hwp release notes 1
Release Notes:
hwp is not completely finished. It has not been tested
exhaustively. I am still working on hwp and adding features as
time permits.
The insert key doesn't work on some systems because the
termcap/terminfo entry for KEY_IC is not defined.
hwp does not work at all in xvt windows under X11. I
wrote xvt so please don't mail me and tell me to tell the
author about it! I don't know why xvt doesn't work properly and
I don't have time to fix it now. I will spend time on it in the
future.
hwp doesn't work properly in xterm windows either. It
works to some extent but the function keys don't work, etc.
because a proper termcap/terminfo entry for xterm is missing.
I have added some support for the use of hwp in an xterm
window. Notably, you can how see underlined text properly.
I have also written some support for MGR terminal
windows so that you can see underline and so that your
cursor looks good. The MGR version works properly.
Since some keys that are not in terminfo/termcap files,
I have made the ESC key cause the menu to pop up. This means
that when you press a function key in an xterm, the menubar

becomes active and you can now choose your item with the cursor
keys. This means that hwp is not totally useless on systems
without function keys, etc. All you really need are cursor keys,
backspace and an ESC key.
I am still working on hwp. I hope to have block
delete/copy/move and context-sensitive help working eventually.
I also hope to have support for Postscript printers, etc. added
soon.
I have now implemented bold, underline and superscript
(for use in end and foot notes, etc.). You cannot see on the
screen things that are superscripted right now. This will be
fixed in the future for environments which support it.
Users with 4.0 will need to uncomment the line in the
makefile so that lpr is used instead of lp. Users of other
systems who don't have lp (but do have lpr) should also use the
appropriate line in the makefile to select the right print
spooler.
Please sent all bug reports, comments, etc. to
